It Began In Africa

They were here. Of course it was no vacation or party time. They were here on serious business. They were DABPD. They would do their job and celebrate later.
When they did celebrate they could only going to one of Africa's finest cities and hooking up with all their hot African chicks. Yeah they were perverted and dirty minded. But when you almost ruled the world. What else could you do?

Alden was waiting for the go ahead. They were sitting out in the brisk heat of the savanna with their heavy trucks. Waiting for that little ring. When the ring happened Alden would tell them what to do. At the moment it was a waiting game. At the moment it was just waiting for business.

"Getting tired of waiting," Vincent said.

"Sssh," was Alden's only reply.

He was waiting for that ring. That ring of life and death.

Africa was bloody hot. Alden, codenamed Monster, didn't like it in the least. But then again there weren't many times when Alden enjoyed the climate of their missions. Savannah, tundra, even urban scenarios, they all posed there own problems. There was no real ideal scenario for military operations, everything posed their own risks. Then again that was why Alden had been called: his keen military mind was exactly what they needed in this scenario. Though sometimes he considered life in the military prison as better than sweating like a pig in the wilderness. But that was the life of a grunt, even the leader of the grunts suffered the consequences of not being a high rank. He remembered when he coordinated these things in a command center, with air conditioning, and no warthogs.

There was a subtle beep. Very quiet, just loud enough for Alden to hear. He pulled out the PDA and glanced down at it, reading over the text on screen. Once it was done he deleted the message, pocketed the PDA and slid down into the driver seat. He'd previously been sitting slouched in the seat with his feet up on the dash, but as soon as orders were in he was ready to go. "Gear up, make sure everything's ready, we've got our orders," he said to the squad via the headpiece he had in, before turning on the jeep and revving the engine. Without any more warning he kicked it into gear and took off, speeding across the plains. Being that there was little to watch out for, he programmed their route into the GPS. "We're going in hot, straight to the objective, screw the locals,"

Ahead there were smoke plumes signaling a village. Alden turned the jeep into a wide circle that would bring them around the village and to the south. "Load up suppressors, we'll try to keep as quiet as possible. Flash bangs, frags, usual stealth gear," he said, turning his attention back to the GPS. They didn't know what was in the cave, or even if there was anything. Least they could do was go prepared and quiet, or else bring an army of angry tribals down upon them.

Lien sat on an exposed rock, quiet and waiting for exactly what everyone else was. The warm african heat didn't bother him much. He is a man of the mission and couldn't care less about the climate when on one. The small beep could be hear from a kilometer away in this silence. Lien turned and watched Alden pull out his PDA and watch the screen for a while. He sat there in anticipation and Alden taped the screen and put the PDA away. Lien stood up to attention as Alden began to speak, "Gear up, make sure everything's ready, we've got our orders," he ordered, heading strait for the truck and driving off.

Lien picked his gun up from the ground and holstered his sidearm and commandeered the other vehicle. He waited for a moment for the other guys whilst tapping the GPS for the route. "Take your time. We have all day." He spoke, loudly. He planted the GPS on the dashboards and grabbed the steering wheel. He forced it into first and revved the engine. "We're going in hot, straight to the objective, screw the locals," the voice of the commanding officer came through the comm.

"Load up suppressors, we'll try to keep as quiet as possible. Flash bangs, frags, usual stealth gear," Alden said. Lien spoke into the headset with calmness and tiredness, "Be right there, Sir." It is all he needed to say. He always used suppressors, he always wore stealth gear. They would soon come to know that.

The hot sun could have fried an egg on a rock, and Vincent was almost tempted to try it. However he was content with what he'd had this morning, some bread, milk and some beans, and honestly couldn't be bothered to find an egg to fry. As Vincent pondered those pointless thoughts while laying in the bed of one of trucks he heard Alden's voice echo from the radio. Smiling under the veil of his mask Vincent turned over and pulled his head up above the cabin of the truck, looking out to the distance. A dull everlasting view met his eyes, where solemn trees were the only blemish on the smooth horizon of the African plains.

The mention of suppressors bothered Vincent, seeing as he never enjoyed using them. The tactical advantage of loud bursts of spray from a powerful machine gun aimed at countless enemies was a wonderful thing to envision. Fear is after all, one of the most powerful weapons. Then again, so is surprise; either way Vincent was slightly displeased with the prospect of going in hot and having to use suppressors. A silent sigh passed through his tightly pressed lips as he fiddled with the words in his mind.

"Anything we should know of?" He asked bluntly, the radio system in his mask clearly carrying his voice to the headsets of the rest of the group, "I mean, using suppressors when we're going in hot? Isn't that pointless?"

There was some chatter over the comms. Alden listened but waited, focusing on the GPS and trying to figure out the best course of action. He debated a few options in his head before deciding on one particular course of action. As the car started to circle around the village and the rocky formation the cave was in started to come into sight he started setting up for when they get there. "Vincent, you're up first. Take the lead, take out any guards from range. We come in immediately after and raid the cave. If all goes well we'll keep the element of surprise as we sweep the cave hot. That's the point of going in hot with surpressors," he said into the headset.

He leaned back in his seat and drew the pistol from his side. He placed it on the seat next to him and rummaged through his bag, also on the seat, pulling out his suppressor. All this was happening while he drove with his other hand. Again he picked up the gun and bit down on it, keeping it in his mouth with the safety still on. He grabbed the suppressor and screwed it into the barrel of the weapon. He'd grab a rifle once they had the entrance covered and cleared. Once done he took the gun from his mouth and tossed it on the seat, focusing on the road above him. "Any other questions?" he asked over the comm.

Since Vincents gun had a split barrel, he couldn't screw on a silencer; instead he had to remove the barrel and replace it with another before screwing the suppressor onto that one. A task that was more trouble than it was worth, although he did somewhat see the point of it now that Alden had explained it. He still didn't like it, but according to his contract he had to do it. As the truck he stood on slowed down further Vincent took it as his cue and jumped from the bed landing on the ground with agile expertise. The mechanisms of his suit worked fluently and the instant his feet touched the dry ground he was in a full sprint towards the mouth of the cave.; reaching it within a few minutes.

The first few steps into the cave were like the many other that Vincent had taken, but as he venture deeper and deeper it became more and more hectic. He could see gunfire, but he couldn't tell if anyone had noticed him yet. Rushing to the wall of the cavern he slid along the jagged edges trying to avoid the vision of every figure he saw. Gaining an advantageous position, to Vincent at least, he began to open fire, his mask synchronized with his gun, guiding his hand and the bullets it released. A spray of red light bathed the walls of the cavern, while men, likely no older than Vincent himself, were slain like the demons in the fairy tales Vincent knew so well; blood splattered the dark stone until finally only a few men remained. "It's clear." Vincent called over the comm system. He knew there were probably a few more people left, but as his mask cast a ray of infrared light only he could see they were quickly weeded out.
